We are developing a new monster trainer game for mobile platforms and would like to see some sketch concepts for monsters; with the potential to further work on the idea and develop to full concept art for the project. We are looking to award multiple winners for this contest.

The final products will be rendered in 3D for use in the game by our own studio. We are giving artists creative freedom with the monster designs. The monsters should resemble, at least in part animals, birds, insects, plants, robots, corrupt robots and for a few special monsters we would like to use the likeness of mythical creatures so feel free to go wild.

Most monsters will have the ability to evolve, so you could design 1-3 stages of the evolution, please state at which stage you think your creation is at. As they evolve we would expect their unique features to become more exaggerated and overall appear more powerful.

Please bear in mind that these monsters will be displayed on a phone screen and should be recognisable from one another at a distance (exaggerated features, unique looks and colours are key)

I have attached a brief back story for the game and an example concept for one of the creatures currently in the game.

We are looking to award multiple winners for this contest, so please submit as many designs as possible.

Hi, we have been through and made comments on any relevant designs. Seeing as though the competition is near a close we are honing in on the final few at the top of our list and will be awarding a few winners as the competition ends. Thank you all for your designs and I hope you don't take any comments / ratings personally as it is likely down to our own personal preference or the concept of our game which we have fixed quite solidly in our minds.

Could you share more details about potential work for selected artists?

If I understood right this contest is test to find right ones?
Also, if you want to share it in public, could you give a bit detailed plan about budgets, deadlines and general load of work when/if artist get a job.

  Hi, the project is very much in it's infancy and whilst we have plenty of creative ideas ourselves we would also love to see interpretations from a wider artistic community for our game which is why we've posted this initial stage competition.
  
  This competition will hopefully have multiple winners who could progress to develop their designs further in talks that will occur in the event of winners being found, dependent on our requirements we would always try and work with the same artists in the future as we expand our need for new designs and concepts (For example we have contacted previous entrants from a competition we had for designing our main character to enter designs in to this project also).
  
  I hope that answers your questions? Budgets and timescales are a bit more difficult to pin down at the moment as it is as much a passion project being built around jobs and family lives as it is a future gaming success (We can all dream) :)

Hi! I saw this contest and sketched out a few designs in pencil, I will be going over them in ink when they are completed. Would it be ok to scan them directly from my sketchbook or would you prefer a drawing on photoshop?
