How can we increase the value of a person's life?

You are free to share this question across the internet, in any form of medium or social network.
When you are ready to submit your solution back here, simply just list out in point forms the realistic actions we can take.
This actions should be realistic that even the average people like you and I can work on.
It should be a short write up (no word count limit) on how can we increase the value of someone's life.
Take for e.g. A middle age person who got retrenched, how can we help him? Or this girl she has to resort to prostitution because she cannot find work.
How can we increase their value?

Why is this question important and how does it affect you and the people you care?

Firstly, everyone is in someway trying to make a living but recently we are seeing more economic crisis, retrenchment, unemployment and recessions.
People compete with people, business compete with bigger businesses.
The economy is pro-business. We have over supply of workers (lives) and lower demand of employment (business). Companies have no qualms retrenching just to increase their profit report. Hire and fire is not uncommon without considering a simple fact, your employees are other businesses' customers too. The rich poor divide has gotten even wider but to shareholders, its all about money.

Secondly, many average people are struggling with their career because of competition from younger people, more experience people and there are glass ceiling due to age, gender and many reasons, so even if you are very experience and capable, you are not indispensable and easily replaceable. So it is not just about you, its about other people's PERCEPTION of the VALUE of your life.
We want people who are in their 50s or 60s to still be seen as being valuable.

Thirdly, if you look at social research on prostitution, drugs and gambling, they all exist because of money. Women sell other women out because of money.
Families breaks because of money, Couple fight each other in court because of money.

Fourthly, we have the diamond water paradox. People forgot they cannot eat precious metal or gold when food source is scarce. People are willing to burn crops and kill livestock so as not to loose money if their supply exceeds demand.

Unfortunately in this world, resource is finite but greed infinite. Money can and has depreciated because it does not has an INHERENT VALUE. Money just a piece of paper based on how much other TRUST you. Its just a denomination. These days and time, money (value) can also be in the form of electronics and other medium. It can be easily destroyed in just seconds. Yet this supply of money is controlled, you cant just print money. With interest rate, even countries can no longer pay off their debts.

So in short, many people are willing to hurt other people because many people believe that human lives are worth less than other forms of values. If you want to help others and to help yourselves because we are all part of this bigger inter-connected world, we need to understand how can we increase the value of a person's life. Be it senior citizen in his/her 60s or a young children, life is precious.

There are time we treasure life more than money. For the people we love we are more than happy to exchange value (money) for other things because we know the people we love have HIGHER value than money itself.

Lastly, there are three types of Value. Utility value e.g. food and oil. Social Value which are in the form of gifts and Identity value e.g. expensive branded bags, jewelries and cars.

So how can you increase the value of a person's life so that more people can benefit?

I can work with using some cognitive skills and transpersonal psychology. Reading an inspiring article would definately help the individual realizing certaing things but the uprooting of the beliefs is what one needs to be working towards to be at peace with it forever. Belief is nothing but a thought you keep repeating so replacement of it with a positive one will sustain the over all wellbeing of the individual.
