Hi,

My name is Reece and I own a car audio company called RTA Fabrication. We specialise in high-end car audio systems and custom car audio fabrication. I am currently looking to redesign our logo because we feel at a glance, new customers have no indication of what it is we do. We are looking for a logo that is recognisable as audio or sound related but trying to avoid graphic equalisers and sound waves within the logo as we come across this far too often in the industry. All of our work is finished to a high standard and we do not promote ourselves as 'your local stereo shop', as we focus our efforts towards large-scale, longer-term custom projects for each individual.

We are hoping to represent our high standard and creativeness of work within our logo, something clean and sophisticated for the more mature customer. The difficulty I have found in creating a new logo is implementing imagery related to audio, which is why I have turned to the professionals for assistance. One thing we are dead set against is car silhouettes!

I have uploaded a few logos that have caught my eye. I like the style and simplicity of these and the fact they are well thought out.

Here is a rundown of requirements.

COMPANY NAME: RTA Fabrication

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE WORD FABRICATION IN THE LOGO, JUST USE RTA

Businesses type: Car audio fabricator/ installer

The logo must be
Minimal, clean and creative
For a mature demographic
Two colours
Represent a high quality of workmanship
No preference to typeface

The logo must NOT include

NO VEHICLES WITHIN THE LOGO
NO HEADPHONES
NO GRAPHIC EQUALISERS OR SOUNDWAVES (UNLESS USED IN A CREATIVE MANNER)

      No it’s fine, I would rather be asked questions! I didn’t realise you checked my site, however I’m pleased you’ve taken the time to get a feel for the work we do. We will replace the logo on the back of our products, we never show the logo on the front as it’s too intrusive. The one exception to this is that we do very subtly laser engrave our logo into the bottom right cover of the alcantara we use as an inlay for the “iPad mini dash panel”.

      To be honest, the manufacturing of products is something we want to be secondary to the business, we are currently doing a big push to make the audio installations our main line of work again. In recent years we’ve become known in the industry more for our product range so the new logo is one part of this big push along with redesigning the website (currently in progress). I’m hoping you can see from the website, our work and products what kind of feel and impression we want to give to our customers, that they’re getting a premium service and something custom to their own requirements.     As a refinement to the terms of reference (sorry, I'm polemicating here).
    If the logo is a "part" of your product (the product itself determines the target audience). I think you should not duplicate the identification in the logo itself.
    If the material of your product is defined (alcantara, sheet metal), especially the instrument and type of processing (CNC - laser, milling, engraving), it already dictates the very form and style of the image.
    And here you are absolutely right, there should be conciseness and graphicness.
    Proceeding from this in my view, this is pure abbreviation "RTA" not burdened with small details. Stencil in writing (with bridges on internal parts).
    Naturally, the final decision is yours.

      Hi, Thanks for your input. I think I understand what it is you’re saying. Actually the word fabrication itself may well be the misleading part of the name, as we do fabricate, as in make things, I feel that new customers see the company name as a metal working/ engineering company. The cnc and laser engraving aren’t services we offer, but we use these processes in house to complete certain jobs. Our main focus is installing car audio equipment. If what you’re saying is don’t use the fabrication then I am happy to use just RTA as/ within the logo. Let me know if this is a sufficient answer to your reply. Thanks

    1. Do you plan to use this logo in a graphic form, or
    adapt to the volumetric emblem (metal, plastic, etc.) on your products?
    2. Do you plan on the logo full name "RTA Fabrication", or "RTA".

      Hi Igor, We will use this logo in graphic form for our website and headers. We will also use the logo on our products, either laser engraved or cnc cut (male and/ or female) along with laser engraving onto materials such as Alcantara. We use just RTA in our current logo accompanied with a strapline "Bespoke car audio fabrication". Ideally, we wanted to drop the strapline and have a logo that speaks for itself. I'm currently open to either option of using just RTA still or the full RTA Fabrication, although I think I am leaning more towards the full name. I hope that is of some help and look forward to seeing your ideas!
