We started noticing drastically reduced speeds on some system functions that seemed to indicate DB issues. Upon logging into RDS, I noticed a Medium severity warning... 1 instance is under-provisioned for system IOPS capacity.. Use a DB instance type with higher default IOPS limits. Reduced database performance. I increased the size of the instance and also changed the storage/IOPS. The IOPS was 4000 originally and I changed it to 25000 last night.
