Written Reflection # 1 (20%): Funniest Thing Ever Option 1: Analyze Something Funny. The funniest things work on many levels and reflect all three theories of humour --superiority, release and incongruity. (Note: Use release theory, not relief theory!) 1. Based on this, choose an article, book, story, movie, TV episode, or stand-up routine that you would nominate as the Funniest Thing Ever. · Choose something that has been deliberately scripted or performed; you cannot choose a YouTube video of someone accidentally falling through a trapdoor, even if it did make you laugh so hard, you fell off your chair and broke your arm. · Do NOT choose anything we have already read or watched in class! 2. Write an analysis showing how all three theories of humour are reflected in your item.
