We work for a music company from the 1980s who hasn’t traded in 20 years. They own the rights to large amount of [login to view URL] 2000 albums. This music hasn’t been available from us since the 1980 when it was available on Vinyl LP and Tape. We are in the process of obtaining digital copies of this music for archive purposes. The master tapes have been lost so we have to transfer from cassette tape and vinyl LP.
The job is to record from Tapes for the music which we own the rights to. The job involves the following steps.
1) Playing the tape on a high grade cassette tape system
2) Recording the song via professional grade soundcard and system as a 16 Bit CD Quality WAV
3) Saving each Song as an individual File in a pre-determind naming plan (CATXXX_01 – Artist – Track (Mix) )
4) Updating a spreadsheet to record the track recorded. One Row for each track with 7 columns of Data.
5) Opening the File In Wavelab, Audacity (or Similar), using the “Check For Skip” Errors function
6) Converting the audio files to WAV 16bit 44khz files and sending to us.
To prevent possible skips and other noises though you would not be able to use your PC while the recording was happening. A song may take 3 – 5 minutes to record but the work to cue it up and paste into the XLS would be 1 or 2 minutes. Initially we have 10 tapes each with about 9/10 tracks on. The tapes form the 80s were rarley over 40 mins long. Pls price initially on 10 tapes.

I am eager to take the job and complete the job at hand with a sense of urgency. In the past I have worked with many underground artist as well as dance troops and have a excellent feedback when it comes to customer satisfaction.
We have transferred hundreds of tapes and albums to digital formats.
Our top equipment; quality cassette player, turntables and Card D Digital audio system and audio engineeer experiance produces consistently perfect files.
Ironically, we just finished a restoration project for a now-defunct Canadian record company. Most won't mention that while cassettes are easier to work with, the vinyl (providing it's in decent quality) will offer the best of result.
That said, upload a sample of one song of one cassette (instruct us of the download URL) and we'd be happy to provide a return digital sample for your review.
