Hello, Interesting project. Are you looking for smoke only or also combustible gas? Smoke only can be done with simple LED type sensors (detects smoke particles). More sensitive ones and also those that can detect gases use more complex sensors and also use more power to excite the sensor, making long-term battery use difficult. But the LED rings also use power, so I will assume you are either connected to mains AC or a DC power source. Logging data requires memory, likely expensive FRAM for real-time performance or battery-backed SRAM. You also need RTC support and a means to interface with the sensor, either an app or a PC-based GUI and some means of connecting. Cloud access requires GPRS or WiFi capability, though a landline connection is also possible. A reasonable reporting methodology also needs to be implemented, as a constant stream of "no smoke" seems wasteful. The quote does not include materials or fabrication costs, and only covers the on-board firmware development with interface protocol. Let me know if I can be of assistance.
