Data extraction and moderate analysis - US Regional Electricity Markets

The database and research paper will investigate the supply and demand of renewable projects and renewable energy credits in California and the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) - Western US market. As part of this assignment a database of existing renewable projects and future projects (under construction) will be created, with resources qualified under the three-bucket system of California’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (“RPS”). The database will provide project-specific information including: Project name, Project Owner, PPAs or other off-take agreements, REC qualification, COD and etc. Separately, a database of Electric Service Providers (“ESPs”) in California will be created that demonstrates recent historical and projected future demand for renewable sources and renewable energy credits, in other words historical and forecast demand for each entity covered under the California RPS. There are approximately 75 ESPs and each may have 0-20 contracts, which would be documented in the database. It is expected that only 10-15 would be considered large participants with the rest being much smaller in terms of number of contracts to investigate. We can provide a template database and also provide resources (websites and databases such as [login to view URL]) where the majority of information can be located. In addition, some "google" search will be required to obtain most recent project status information.
