We have racing data that we purchase each day in csv files. Each race may have from 3 to 24 runners. We have a basic excel spreadsheet which we use to make selections, it corrects odds and rankings to account for scratched horses. We copy and paste results. Currently we are only using a portion of the data available in the csv file (about 50 columns and only 4 runners) After a race is run and the results are in, we have been putting the data by copy and paste into one excel sheet. There are about 6000 races per year. We want to start a new year with all the available data (300+ columns) which will be a storage problem. We then need to be able to filter and analyse the database. There are 4 of us in this project at different locations. So we need to be able to send an updated version to each member to keep everyone up to date. At present we open a new file of our basic excel spreadsheet for each race, keeping the master copy. We would like to be able to keep the day's races in one workbook although this could be 40 races.
