Crawl Public Facebook Events from Lat/Long

I'm looking for a script that given a latitude and longitude gives me a list of the closest N public Facebook events. The script should run periodically and do this for a given set of lat/lng and save the results to a database. The technology used isn't very important, slight preference for Python.
