For your project, given your requirement to easily update the site at your end I would recommend the use of a CMS (Content Management System) such as Joomla. Joomla can be hosted on any standard server and the administration panel will allow you to manage content and users. I have developed a number of directories with Joomla. Integrating social media and PayPal is not a problem either. It would be very helpful if you could share more information about the type of content to be published. Is it text, video, images, pdf documents, images? Are there any members only areas? What volume are we talking about? Is your content for the most part ready and categorized or do we need to define a taxonomy together? In terms of design do you have any examples of sites or color schema that you like?
