Build a Website

We are looking for a true visionary designer who understands how to design web sites that look stunning, but couple with their functional purpose. We have an old web application that needs a make-over, and we are looking for a designer who has experience in the design of sites focused around information presentation (e.g. Huffington Post), mixed with community style. This project focuses on the marketing and presentation aspects of a web application that is designed to entice people to sign up for free trial, but more importantly looks to present the products of the community of existing members on its home page, and other follower pages. The site design will be focused on desktop PC web browsers, however at a later stage we may commission a version for mobile. We need a site designer completely familar with designing W3C compliant sites, but starting from the graphic design perspective. We already have our own HTML/CSS slicing people and plenty of PHP developers, so we don't need anyone from that background. Just someone with vision, graphic design skill and the ability to take what we already have and turn it into something that looks cool and enticing. If you think you have what it takes, we'd like to see a portfolio of your work of similar types of sites. Don't show us just some marketing brochure type site, etc. We are looking for sites that deliver lots of content, and attract new signups. Also if you are a body shop, don't bother. We only want to deal directly with the person doing the design. If you can't provide that, you won't win this project.
