Requirement is for an HTML5 "Chrome App" that will interface with a USB serial device, displaying and allowing the alteration of settings on that device. The app must run on Windows and OS X. There should be no daemon or "server-side" aspect to this, the JavaScript running in the browser will communicate directly with the USB device plugged in locally, via the "[url removed, login to view]" package.
The app will have the following functionality:
1. Scan for any devices with a particular USB PID/VID combination, and give a "Rescan" button to repeat the scan.
2. Query the device's current settings - the response is in the form of a JSON structure.
3. Display those settings in a static single page HTML5 web form.
4. If the user modifies those settings and slicks "Save", those settings are written back to the device.
5. The user can also press "set time" button to set the time on the device.
We will supply the HTML5 form, details on the API with the device, sample data and a means to connect to the device over a network socket for testing, and can post a device for final integration testing. We will also supply more details on the above requirements if you're considering bidding.
You will deliver an "application" - something the user can double-click to open (we assume Chrome has already been installed) - with the described functionality and which has been tested on Win XP, Win 7, Win 8 and OS X.
