A STL to MatLab 3D array converter on MatLab

I need to find a way to convert any STL image (from SolidWorks) into a 3D array of points on MatLab that map out the image in a consecutive order, from the bottom up; I also would like to be able to choose the distance between the points that map out the image.
I know this would probably involve using voxilisation and maybe slicing up the image to get more accurate points; please let me know if you would be able to do it and how long it would take you (a lot of the parts of the code are already open sourced online, it would just be a matter of piecing things together so I don’t think it should take long).
