Hi, friendly suggestion, please go Native development instead of Cross platform like phonegap. my team is working on 3 XMPP server based mobile messaging app like Whatsapp messenger. we can also do the same in Phonegap but the app will not be so responsive the way you thinked of. so, lets discuss if you are interested, I may suggest you some idea.
