Brownie Points

The goal of this application is to provide parents, teachersand guardians with a convenient andconsistent tool forbehaviour modification in children. ## Deliverables Hello coders, thanks for reviewing this project. We will be managing the project ourselves and tracking software bugs here [login to view URL] The site needs to be fun, friendly and welcoming for all a wide age range, primary schoolers to adults. Essentially the application is relatively simple. - Kids are good, they get awarded points - Kids are naughty, they get points removed - Once kids have enough points they can buy rewards with them So we need a number of screens/functions required... 1) Home page that sells the concept and convinces parents to register - the home page will be integrated with a facebook site that shows recent posts from the Brownie Points page - login/logout routines - recent messages from admins - std forgotten password routine - automatically logs a user in (via cookie storage etc) - allows users to contact admins through a 'contact us' form - users must come in through the home page 2) Registration Wizard: A series of steps that gets parents and guardians to register any/all of their children (no limit) . We will need names, ages, email, DOB, relationship to child, password, headshots for each user and each child in their care. We don't collect addresses, phone numbers or surnames for security reasons - need to make this clear on the site. - a welcome email will be generated using the same colours, styles, graphics as the website. Text will be provided. - optionally publish to facebook page that this person has joined 3) User page for the parent/Guardian. This will allow users to - allocate or remove points from their children by selecting a behaviour that has already been agreed upon with the child. Every behaviour generates emails to interested parties, including the child. This can optionally be published to the facebook page. - each allocated behaviour can also be associated with an optional note from the parent/guardian. This should be encouraged so that the child recalls the incident. - emails that are generated for positive behaviour will be graphically framed as a certificate of reward/appreciation that can be kept or printed. It will contain the child's name, face, age, behaviour, points, notes and image associated with the positive behaviour if appropriate. The email (not the certificate) will also mention the new points level which privileges are now newly eligible given the new level of Brownie points. - negative behaviour emails will also be associated with a note for the parent (not the child) about the traditional causes of such behaviour and some ideas to fix it. - Agree or deny requests for points sent by the child or a 3rd party (this can also be done from a link in an email). This may also be optionally published to the Brownie Points facebook page - Edit behaviours and their associated Brownie points (both negative and positive) - Add or edit children's details - share children with other parents, guardians or teachers. This will be on 2 separate levels, some users may be granted Admin privileges over the child, other users will just receive read-only privileges and emailed updates. - add, delete or edit behaviours and privileges and their associated brownie point values. These can be suggestions from the site or completely customised. You must be able to add items that you don't necessarily want for your own children. This could be a problem if you share an item with the community that you subsequently want to delete. - add/edit/remove privileges that children can purchase. This involves editing the name, points, images, exclusivity and expiry times for each reward. Rewards may or may not have expiry times (e.g Billy has no chores for 24 hours or Jane is allowed to watch TV for a week). Exclusivity is an optional setting means that only one child may have that privilege at any one time (e.g. front seat of the car or choice of TV program) - each privilege/reward/punishment can optionally be shared with the rest of the community so that they are available to others. - Privileges can also be selected from a list of privileges already created by Brownie admins or selected from a list of privileges created by other users who have chosen to share them. - view a chronological history summary of behaviours of all children in their care - view a summary of Brownie Point totals for each child in a 'high score' table. This will also include a score for last week (for comparison), a high score and graphics indicating which children currently have privileges. Each record will link to the child's home page and each privilege icon will link to a full description of that privilege - each parent guardian may set email alerts for their account. They may choose to receive emails for every punishment/achievement story, every reward story or no emails at all. - view the home page for each child in their care - punishments, rewards and privileges all with their associated Brownie Points need to be printable (A4) in an attractive way such that children and adults can sign their agreement and then place the rules in a common area (e.g. fridge) - any reward/punishment/privilege that is created an optionally shared with the community for them to use must first be approved by administrators on the admin page. 4) user page for each child - They can apply for points by clicking on various behaviours or even confess to negative behaviours. This will generate an email which will allow parents/guardians to simply click a link inside the email indicating that they approve or disapprove the points. - Default behaviours will be created by the site depending on their age, taking the 10 most popular reward/punishment/privilege items for their age group. - view the unused rewards children have already paid for and their expiry times - view their reward history - view a history summary of their behaviours - view a summary of all behaviours and their associated Brownie points - view a summary of all rewards and their associated Brownie points - children cannot edit behaviours or rewards - children only see rewards/punishments/privileges that are suitable for their age bracket. - Children can purchase privileges with their points. These privileges may be optionally published to facebook. An email is generated to all parties when a privilege is purchased. - if a child attempts to buy a privilege they can't afford, suggest some activities that will be rewarded with the required number of Brownie Points to achieve the privilege - children can play a 'roulette' type game where they will be afforded a random privilege (that they don't already have) for a relatively small number of points 5) Privilege pages - each Privilege will have its own page, editable by the creator and Brownie Points administrators. - each Privilege will be creatable by parents/guardians from their home page - each Privilege will be associated with a name, description, creator, date, Brownie Points, exclusivity option, icon, suggested age range and a description of how this particular Privilege will benefit the child concerned psychologically and benefit their long term growth and maturity. 6) Punishment/Reward Pages - each Punishment/Reward page will be maintained in the same way as the privilege pages. - each punishment will also be associated with a note for parents as to the traditional underlying causes of such negative behaviour. These will be emailed to them at appropriate times. 7) Administration: Administrators need to gauge whether the site is being used. The admin page will include - number of current registered users (and change from last week and last month) - number of children (and change from last week and last month) - total number of Brownie points (and change from last week and last month) - total number of punishment events (and change from last week and last month) - total number of reward events (and change from last week and last month) - total number of privilege events (and change from last week and last month) - the admin page will allow admins to send emails to the community - allow admins to update the home page with a message or delete old ones - administrators have the power to appoint others accounts as 'administrators' - amins must approve all reward/punishment/privileges that have been optionally 'shared' by members before they are available to the community - administrators have the power to add/edit/delete anything on the site
