ASP / java advice

I need help with 2 problems with ASP. 1) I cannot get radio buttons to default across rows. My application (a simple survey) has multiple groups of questions ("What flowers do you like", "What trees do you like"). Each group of questions has 4-5 rows of radio buttons for different questions where the user can rate their opinions on the park or garden ("Roses", "daisies", etc for flowers and then "oak", "maple", etc for trees). The ratings go from 5-1 and also "n/a" in case there is no opinion. I want all to start off empty but if the user clicks "n/a" on the first row, I want all rows for that area (e.g. flowers) to be checked as "n/a" as the visitor has no opinions on ANY flowers. Can the be done in ASP? Java? 2) I cannot get my survey to save if they choose a different page or close the browser. My survey of visitors has two main frames: a menu on the left (that selects which area of the park to survey) and the survey that appears on the right. The survey has a "save" button (which works) but I want the survey to be saved if the visitor clicks on a different area of the park or if they close the browser. Can this be done? I do not need the site done, just a sample piece of code for each area that I can play with. If you have a sample site that I can look at that does this kind of thing then, if it works the same, I would only need the piece of code from your sample site (or ASP command, etc) to figure it out.
