Description of Problem:
The Department of Information Systems has a small library. You have been asked to develop a new computer based library system using VB.net. Your program should at least have the following functionalities:
Add a new book into the system
Search a book by subject or by title
Check out a book
Return a book
Exit
Feel free to add any other useful functionality as a part of your system.
(a) Add a new book
This function allows a user to add a new book into the system. Of course, it should allow the user to input the book title, subject(s), and other necessary information about this book. For time being, you may assume that there are three subject areas only: IS Management, IS Technology, and E-Commerce.
(b) Search a book
This system should allow a user to search the system, based on a subject or a title. The system will show the book(s), that can match the search criteria.
(c ) Check out a book
The user can select a book to check out, if such book is available. The number limits for borrowing are as follows:
(1) Teaching staff: 3 books at most
(2) Research student: 2 books at most
(3) General staff: 1 book at most.
The system should refuse the user to check out, if his/her limit has been reached.
(d) Return a book
The user may return a book he/she has borrowed before.
NOTE:
(1) There are a number of users in the system for the testing purpose. For instance, there may be 2 teaching staff, 2 research students, and 2 general staff. Each user should have a password. When checking out, the system should ask the password.
(2) You may use a database or a file system to store necessary data.
You are encouraged to use the VB.Net built-in GUI facilities.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
