Directory Zipping on Server (ASP or PHP)

Hello Everyone,
I need a script (no conponents!) that will recursively zip all files and folders (including empty folders) for a given path on my server through a web page. I need to be able to give it a source folder and destination zip file name and path. I also need to understand how to manipulate the zip file that is created,
ie if the whole path to the source dir is:
/services/webpages/i/d/[url removed, login to view]
and I want to zip
/stuff/wed/
and include all it's files, then how(where) do I execute the script.
I then want the zip file to end up in
/services/webpages/i/d/[url removed, login to view]
The zip file must be compatable with Winzip for unzipping.
You can write the script in either ASP (not .net) or PHP.
tar is available on the server, and will unzip correctly.
tar (GNU tar) [url removed, login to view]
zip is also available, but hasn't been tested with winzip.
Zip 2.3 (November 29th 1999).
The server is:
PHP Version 4.3.8
Linux web175 [url removed, login to view]
'./configure' '--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql' '--disable-debug' '--with-curl' '--disable-posix' '--with-apache=../[url removed, login to view]' '--with-imap=../[url removed, login to view]' '--enable-track-vars' '--enable-wddx' '--with-mcrypt=../libmcrypt-2.5.5' '--enable-siteguard' '--with-dba' '--with-db' '--with-db2' '--with-gdbm' '--with-gd' '--enable-gd-native-ttf' '--with-freetype-dir' '--with-jpeg-dir' '--with-zlib-dir' '--with-png-dir' '--with-ttf' '--with-xml' '--enable-dbase'
Modules:
mod_hproxy, mod_php4, mod_frontpage, mod_setenvif, mod_auth, mod_access, mod_alias, mod_speling, mod_actions, mod_imap, mod_cgi, mod_dir, mod_autoindex, mod_include, mod_negotiation, mod_mime, mod_log_config, mod_env, mod_vhost_alias, http_core
safe_mode is off
I can access the server using SSH if that is helpful.
Thanks for your time.
