This is an Access 2000 database that was created by an employee no longer accessible. It was conceived as a bunch of spreadsheets more than as a strict relational database approach.
The big problem:
Employees are COLUMNS (fields) in the forms and tables that describe their daily sales. Adding one new employee means changing table structures etc beyond what the in-office clerk can handle.
I created an EMPLOYEE table and a New_BillDate table. The first will make it easy enough to add an employee or inactivate one. The second now holds the history in the new layout.
What's needed:
All forms and reports need to be re-directed to pull information from these new tables instead of the old ones and a sub-routine to exclude inactive employees needs to be added to all pertinent reports and forms.
This includes Visual Basic buttons calling functions from the main form.
## Deliverables
The resulting MS Access 2000 application must be restructured and VERY EASY TO MAINTAIN by an employee with certain ability with MS Excel but no real concepts about relational databases.
Preferably, some standardization of names and procedures would be a plus.
The newly created New_BillDate_frm form needs to be embellished and the processes to pull data need to be preserved as much as possible to minimize personnel re-training.
There are indications in the MENU form (the main form that pops up automatically when first opening the database that will help to understand both how the addition of employees was originally conceived and how to use that form.
