Challenge for Wordpress expert with node.js experience. Create better image upload for bbPress.

I'm managing one of my country's biggest niche communities. The site has a bbPress forum with around 90,000 monthly visitors. Our users love to upload pictures to the forum. And currently this happens directly in the tinyMCE editor, where they can upload pictures and align them inside their text, etc. But this creates problems for non-technical users, and for our new responsive design it will create even more difficulties when displaying forum threads on small devices. So we need to improve the way we let users upload pictures to their forum posts.
