DevExpress OLAP Browser Demo Code

Developer's Express ([login to view URL]) has an OLAP cube browser control that they call the XtraPivotGrid. It's a Windows component (not the ASP.NET component). You can download their demo code freely and program with it with just a nag screen coming up at the start of the running program. They have C# demo code for their XtraPivotGrid which includes a demo OLAP Browser which can connect to OLAP cubes and then you can drag and drop measures and dimension from a field-like list unto the PivotGrid and manipulate the data displayed. The problem/challenge is that their demo code is very complex and convoluted. You have to have a good knowledge of their controls and be able to figure out overly complex code and very poor documentation in order to figure it out.

I need a very sharp Windows C# developer to go into their complex demo code and extract an easy to understand direct to the point OLAP browser code and put it into a project without all of the overly complex inheritance code. So that an intermediate level developer can understand it.

So the project is essentially cutting out all of the unnecessary code, extracting just the minimal OLAP browser demo code, and put it into a simple C# project where I can run it and see just the minimal code necessary to implement the OLAP Browser demo. No new code is necessary.

Note that this is not necessarily just cutting and pasting code. You have to be able to trace the code through levels of inheritance and abstraction. The documentation by DevExpress is fairly good in a few simple areas but totally lacking in this area. And their tech support is typically not very helpful (and have a bad attitude) so they just say "look in the demo code".

So that's what I'm looking for: Someone to go in and extract it from all that mess.

You don't have to provide any documentation except for probably answering just a couple of questions on the code from me. This project is designed to save me time (and aggrevation). There are no code deliveables beyond the minimally running OLAP Browser demo.

And I need this as soon as possible (ie a couple of days).

You don't need to know much if anything about OLAP cubes to accomplish this work. You do need to be able to connect to an OLAP cube to trace and test the code. You can download and use the Microsoft AdventureWorks DW database and cube sample to easily build a sample cube. This requires Microsoft Analysis Services 2005/2008 which is part of the SQL Server 2005/2008 Developer's Edition. If you cannot do this then state this in your bid. I can provide you with a test cube file based on AdventureWorks DW or you can probably (if you're good) extract the code and give it to me to test against a real code. Let me know in your bid which way you plan/need to go with this.

Additionally, in your bid give me at least a sentence or two about why you can accomplish this work instead of just saying "yes I can do it".
