10 years is a long time in a technology perspective as things has spiked out in the past 10 years. The concepts of web development has changed, the battle among vendors has gone war. Your hosting provider is trying to keep up with the demand as these days most people want to have upgraded functionality on applications/systems. I can look into your php code and make the required changers to the desired php version. More and more functions provided by php is being depreciated and moving on to new methods. I have been working on old systems developed in 2003 and trying to upgrade them to current version like the scenario you have told as my employers (not in freelancer) cannot or dose not wont to change the system just want to make it sufficient for the era. I have signed a contract with the employer not to expose any details of the system (the employer is government) because it is related to sensitive data which in my case is a disadvantage. However, i would like to say that I have the right experience to get the job done and I will not let you down. NOTE: would be great if you could let me know the hosting provider and the version of php to upgrade to so that I can have a look ahead. Thanks
