Hello,
I did my BFA in Creative Writing and there was a required poetry component to it, so I've studied the bare minimum of poetry from an academic standpoint (even wrote some awful poetry once or twice!). What's more important from my degree was the heavy emphasis on editing for grammar, punctuation, and clarity. Poetry is weird, because sometimes the author will be deliberately obscure, and a good editor should be able to see through that and simply fix the errors, not the things the editor doesn't like or agree with (this is way more abundant in fiction and poetry, where an editor might develop an opinion, as opposed to editing a journalistic article where the facts are typically not disputable).
I've put the minimum bid not because I'm bad or from a non-English country. I'm Canadian, born and raised, and English is my first language. I am bidding low because I have no feedback on this website, and it's hard to get jobs when you bid the higher end of the employer pay range. I have been editing for over five years and writing for eight years. I am the copy editor for Reel West Magazine, a film and TV magazine based in western Canada. I also spent a good part of last year copy editing a book, The Killer Whale Who Changed the World, by Mark Leiren-Young.
I'd love to chat with you about the project, your expectations, my experience.. If you're interested in getting great service for a low price, please send me a message and we can chat.
