We’re looking to copy and convert our high resolution jpegs (.jpg) from a DPI of 300 to 150 from one folder to another.
The script should constantly watch a source folder for any new images that have been dropped into it.
If a file is new it should copy and convert the image from 300dpi to 150dpi (leaving all other attributes as is).
If a file has been overwritten then the script should convert this file and overwrite the previously copied and converted file.
The script should log what new files have been converted or what files have been updated into sql server
Server that will be hosting the images are OSX Server Mavericks (script should be compatible with Yosemite Server). We should be able to run multiple instances of this script so we can convert multiple folders
You could write the script as an AppleScript format. You could use Image Events background application which is default installation of Mac OSX version 10.3 or above. It can be found on System > Library > CoreServices folder if you need to review it. This Image Events app can be used for any image manipulation including the DPI conversion. Let me know if you OK with my approach

Hi there,
I have 4+ years of experience with software development include apps for iOS and OSX.
I think the project scope is well defined and I could help you write the applescript for reducing those hi-res images and logging the updated file info to your sql server instance. ( Would this be a SQLPro server or another sql server?)
I'd be interested in taking this discussion forward.
