I am familiar on wrapping native C++ with higher level language. I knows C++ CLI to deals with .NET-Native interoperability, and in the past I use SWIG to generate Python interface for native C functions. I work with C++ on daily basis, and sparingly write C# programs to control our FTDI-based custom devices
