Car Number Plates Printing Software to run on Windows PC – NOT a Website (Download a proper formatted document with images from [login to view URL]) There are three components to the software: 1. Designing and printing car number plates 2. Database for storing and managing retail customer / garages that order number plates regularly and for the actual number plates that are printed. 3. Licensing / system security 1. Printing Car Number Plates has the following features (please refer to Red labels in Figures 1 and 2): o Ability to define and save for later recall, number plates i.e. physical size (height and width, background colour for the front and different colour for the back number plate). o Select the type of number plate from a list, defined in previous option. o Select the print font [A] from a predefined list of suitable fonts (font height and weight will be defined in system configuration). o Select a border [B] (none or from one of predefined borders of differing colours). The user is able to define the size of a gap in the bottom centre of the border for printing number plate supplier name. o Optionally, select an Emblem Flag [C] from a list of available flags. The flag can be positioned left, right or moved freely. o User may also select an image from a folder which he can then resize and position anywhere along the number plate. o Enter the car number plate [D] text e.g. DPS 861. o Optionally enter garage name or supplier [E] that ordered the number plate in the bottom centre of the border. o Finally the user may select to print additional small text in the bottom right corner of the number plate [F]. Typically number plates are printed as a pair, one for the front and one for the back. The front and rear number plates may have a different background colour (for the UK this is white for the front and yellow for the back). The background colours are NOT printed on the number plate, they are for on screen display only. The background colour is determined by the colour of the material that is used for printing. As the number plate is defined, it is shown on the screen as it would be printed. 2. Database o Number plates that are created can be saved to a database, say MS Access with additional user details. o The system will allow number plate templates to be defined for different garages that can be recalled when creating new number plates. o User will be able to select a customer / garage and see all transactions for supplied number plates. 3. Security o The software will need to secured in some way to prevent unauthorised access. One possible mechanism could be to have a blank serial number and when the software is run for the 1st time, the user has to request a serial number / activation code. There after, when the system starts, it checks the web to see if this particular copy is still authorised to run. If not, the software is disabled, till a new activation code / serial number is obtained.
