I have an access based inventory system, that uses online SharePoint tables for its data-store.
I would like a macro written that I can run the macro from within access (or Visio) and based on a query (that is already in access) it will populate a Visio drawing with shapes that match that query. ie. Building a diagram of inventory. Each 'section' of the inventory should be drawn to a new tab in Visio.
Early days on this idea, Would like to discuss further - Is this feasible?
Hi,
I did the initial feasibility study and this is feasible.I will be able to do a quick demo macro in 1-2 days to insert a basic shape.
I am happy to discuss the requirements.
Thanks,
Sudewa
What you're asking about is extremely doable. I have built similar solutions that read data from Excel and other data sources, and then use a combination of the data and program logic to place shapes onto the Visio drawing page.
I can provide an example of code that builds a simple diagram from data if you'd like.
BTW, my time estimate is longer than normal because I'm finishing writing a book about Visio: Visio 2013 Step by Step.
Thanks for the opportunity to bid on your project.
Your project is technically feasible.
My bid is based on previous experience working with Visio as a UML Tool in enterprise applications development. We have experience programmatically creating Visio Objects from Visual Basic applications.
We can bring this experience to bear to ensure that the same is achieved from Ms Access. We have proposed a 10 day timeline to allow sufficient time for testing and documentation before handover to you.
I am available and ready to begin your work immediately should you elect to award the project to me.
