Backup site files to cloud storage

Create script/method to backup site files and also restore them from Hostgator shared hosting to cloud storage (any of the current cloud storgae such as Amazon, Rackspace etc).
Current situation: Have joomla site on Hostgator shared hosting, and run Akeeba backup daily. Need to have Akeeba backup files (.jpa, j01, etc) copied to cloud storage for offsite backup. Also need the ability to copy back from cloud storage to Hostgator site in the event disaster recovery is needed. Current file sizes are 4 Akeeba backup files totalling 6.5 GB (one .5 GB file, and three 2 GB files). Attempted to use Akeeba backup professional to send directly to Amazon S3 but Akeeba partioned into 700+ files and was not successful.
You will do the work on a test site and then provide complete instructions on how to do for production site.
