Goal is to create a service that notifies customers of outages with Amazon Web Services. The application should retrieve a file posted to S3 storage, identify if there is a change, compare it to a customer file to see who wants which particular notifications, and then send the appropriate message per customer (text or email) by using SNS or SES. I also need the customer registration and e-commerce portion built. We can leave the aesthetics basic as I'll hire a UI designer later.
This isn't a big dataset and we'll only look for updates every 5 minutes. However, if there is a notification to be sent the system should be designed to send 100,000+ emails/texts. The AWS Simple Notification Service (SNS) and/or Simple Email Services (SES) are probably the right choices.
I'm flexible on the implementation. I would want it either built directly on AWS or Heroku.
