Complete import functionality to import excel file into two access tables.
## Deliverables
Hi, I have an access database that I need to add import functionality into (excel file).
Attached is an example of the spreadsheet (only broccoli sheet contains sample data) you will notice there are a number of different sheets in the spreadsheet. Each sheet represents a Vegetable and will always have the Variety, Harvest Date and Maturity In Days columns. After that the columns can change from sheet to sheet (Always has comments row at the end.)
Also note the sheets (vegetables) can change from file to file as well.
What I'm after is for someone to complete the import functionality in the attached access form so that the sheet can be imported into the two tables tblFETempImportTrial and tblFETempImportTrialDetail. The user will need to write code which loops through each sheet in the file (needs to be dynamic to account for the fact that the sheets can be different from one file to another)
tblFETempImportTrial just contains the Species (use the sheet name to populate this and not the cell) and the Sowing Date(E1), Transplant date(H1) and Location(K1) which are in the first row of the sheet. These cell positions won't change.
tblFETempImportTrialDetail contains a link to the trial record that first gets created then the Variety (first column), Harvest Date and maturity in days. The Trait is the column heading eg, plant size, head position, head shape. And the value is just the value in the cell for that trait. (You will end up with multiple records for the one line in the spreadsheet if it has multiple traits, and the same comment for that line will be stored in each record in this table)
When the import starts you will need to clear out the two tables specified (just use [url removed, login to view] ("name of delete query") ) to empty them. Also I would like dao to be used where required as I'm more familiar with it than ado.
I would sooner pay a bit extra for someone who is going to perform a quality job rather than rush it without it thoroughly tested.
Also note that we are a software company who is currently short staffed so I would like to build up a relationship with someone that I can continue to use in the future so I would prefer someone who is highly skilled with MS Access 2003-2010.
Thanks Justin
