Help get my Qt installation functional. [login to view URL] seems to be missing from my QT installation which may be the only issue.
First I downloaded MinGW from [login to view URL]
(from website at [login to view URL] )
Then I downloaded Qt Creator from [login to view URL]
(website is [login to view URL] )
I finally downloaded Qt libraries 4.8.3 for Windows (minGW 4.4, 317 MB) at [login to view URL] (from website at [login to view URL] )
I installed the three programs in that order. When I run Qt and start a new empty Qt project (file -> new file or project -> other -> empty qt project) then it prompts to create what Qt calls a "kit" with the message "no valid kits found". I then go to (tools -> options -> build & run -> kits -> add) where it did not find the MinGW compiler. By clicking the "manage" button next to compiler I pointed it to what seemed to be the appropriate MinGW file (C:\MinGW\bin\[login to view URL] ). However, that was not enough to make the kit valid. It also seems to want the Qt Version field to be filled in. When clicking "manage" button next to the Qt version text, it wants the location of qmake. By running a search, I was able to find [login to view URL] at C:\Qt\4.8.3\qmake\[login to view URL] but when I add the file there is an error "Qt Version is not installed, please run make install". I don't know how to "run make install" and a web search didn't help me find out.
There was one installation error which was that the Qt installer was unable to locate a MinGW file, but by pointing to the MinGW compiler I expected that to be fixed. I imagine this error is repeatable on any Windows 7 computer. Please help me resolve these issues!
