Descripción del Proyecto
on an entry-level position in the field you are interested in pursuing upon graduation (e.g., HR, Finance, Construction Engineering, etc) or it could be for the position you have already obtained. Make sure though that the position you select is one that you will be able to easily collect information on.
Using the information provided in the text, determine an appropriate method for gathering and organizing the information. For example, you may want to interview someone who is currently in the position or who has previously held the position. Or, you might also want to consider observing someone perform this job over some period of time. You can also use O*Net Online ([url removed, login to view]) or other web-based resources to locate information on the position.
Once you have performed the job analysis, write the job description and job specifications for the position you selected using the information in the text (e.g., HR How To on pp.110-111 and Figures 4.2 and 4.3) as well as any information provided in class. The following information should be addressed in your job description:
• Title of the job
• Administrative information (e.g., supervisor title, department)
• Summary of the job (i.e., purpose and main responsibilities)
• Essential job functions (i.e., tasks, duties, responsibilities)
• Disclaimer statement regarding additional responsibilities
• Job specifications
o Knowledge, skills, and abilities
o Education and/or Experience
o Physical requirements
o Working conditions
While there is no set page length for a job description, they can typically be written up in 1-2 pages.
1. Job description.
2. A one page cover letter (see next page for the format) that discusses the following:
o What process you used to collect your job analysis information and why.
o Any legal issues you considered when conducting your job analysis and writing up your job description.
From: <insert your name>
Date: <insert date assignment due>
Re: <insert topic of homework assignment>
You should use the APA format. They should be in block memo format, single-spaced, well written, and supported by research (textbook, article, newspaper, etc.) where appropriate. Treat this memo as if I am your manager and you are providing me with an explanation of how you went about completing the task(s) assigned in the homework assignment. Also be sure to provide me with any support for recommendations that you make. In other words, be sure you can explain your reasoning for your recommendation!
A 10 point Ariel or a 12 point Times New Roman font may be used, spelling and grammar must be checked, and the document should be proofread. Ideally, the memo should be no more than 1 page but it may carry over to a second page. Remember that managers are busy people so the more direct and concise you can be the better
