The research project aims to develop an Ontology based framework for specifying software requirements (Non Functional requirements).

The process could be composed of 4 steps:

a. Building the ontology related to non functional requirements section using OWL

b. Building SRS instances in XML (mainly the non-functional requirements section)

The Software Requirements Specification (SRS) provides a detailed description of the requirements and describes the design decisions, architectural design and the detailed design needed to implement the system. This SRS should be written in XML in accordance with the IEEE Std 830-1998 model.

c. Validation of SRS instances

SRS instances represented in XML should be “Well formed” and “Valid” according the SRS DTD (schema).

d. Mapping SRS instances to the ontology (using RDF which links XML elements (correponding to non-functional reqs) to ontology concepts represented with OWL.

All the Non Funct requirements from the SRS instance (XML file) will be connected to the ontology (linking manually the requirements to concepts of the ontology).

(I see this project twice, bidding on both just in case they are the same) That is a novel idea - using an ontology to describe software requirements. I can see how valuable that would be. It allows for SPARQL quer Más
