The current project we are developing is the following:
Inside an elevator, we will be installing three screens that have a video mapped on them. This video, will play accordingly to the elevation of the elevator. For example, when the elevator is stopped, the video will be paused, but when the elevator starts moving upwards, the video will start playing forward, and play another video when going down.
The video contains images taken by a drone flying up. This way, we would have a kind of "virtual" window that animates along with the elevators height.
The elevator only has two stops, up and down.
What we want: We want someone work as a consultant to tell us the design of the electronics we could use to achieve this with enough precision.
The solution can’t be wired to the elevator’s system, it should work independently, as an external system. Pretty much like this project:

I think the accelerometer can be aided with an another data source (in general two variants are possible, depending on how precise the position estimation should be) using a Kalman filter.
