Content Writer guidelines (Age Group 0-3 Years)

• Every story has to have 2 versions, one for boys and one for girls, all the vocabulary

(“ his” to be replaced with “her” and vice versa) and certain elements of the story have to be changed so that even if two siblings of the same house order the books, they don’t feel like exactly the same stories.

• If the story can be in paragraphs which rhyme its better for the younger age groups as rhyming and repetition of the central idea or theme makes it easy for the children to remember. This does not mean that for rhyming sake you should compromise on the content or the vocabulary or grammar can be ignored. Paragraphs with 4 Lines each total word count would be around 500 words. It might look like a short poem but that is what kids of this age group relate to.

• Word choice shall be graphic and pictorial so it’s easy for the illustrators to make the story board. It’s more important to have proper illustrations in our stories as they are personalised. Refrain from using negative or technical words or negative verbs as it would not be nice to illustrate them.

• The story shall portray the bad habits as challenges or villains/monsters and the child can beat them or overcome the challenge by :

1. Taking advice from his parents ( parents role in child’s life is to be glorified)

2. Following that advice which is a good habit as well.

This is empirical that these two things are covered in the story

• The child has to be the lead character of the story with the parents portrayed as essential characters that help him.

• The family could be time travellers, prince or princess and king queen, super hero family, but the story shall always make the child feel that he has achieved something by following a good habit by the end of the story.

• Refrain from a story where the child is shown as weak or having a bad habit which he leaves to get better as the child would see himself illustrated in the story and if he would be weak or sad it would not be nice for him or his parents to look at. The child would be happy and good from the beginning but overcoming the challenge or beating the villain/ monster would get him a lot of respect and good things which will motivate him to stick to the good habit.

• Try and include a food item somewhere in the story, also if possible try and include a pet.

• Friends can also be put in (around 3) whose names can be replaced with the child’s top 3 friends.
