This is the configuration I need done on a Windows SBS 2003 box.
NO-IP will be used for access to the SharePoint portal server on this box so entry to the server needs access to the server using a NO-IP host ([url removed, login to view]).
Here's the current setup:
Router connection uses one network adapter for intranet and Internet using SSL
Do a postinstallation administration of a SharePoint portal server 2003 on a server which was previously running windows SharePoint services
Initially, all services will be run from one server
I would like the SharePoint portal server to be the entry point for external users so I would need you to create a new virtual server for windows SharePoint services and use the previous URL for the portal site
Ensure that the default content access account has rights to access all of the windows SharePoint services sites that you added to the server for or create a site rule that uses an account that has the proper rights
The virtual servers for both windows SharePoint services and the one SharePoint portal server site are on the same computer and use the same port therefore you must use host headers to enabled proper browsing to each site
To access the SharePoint sites used with the windows SharePoint services configuration, you must extend a virtual servers in the new SharePoint portal server 2003 configuration and then configure the virtual server settings to match the settings used with windows SharePoint services
Add a link to SharePoint sites to the SharePoint portal server 2003 site directory
Choose the host header names that users will use to access the extra net from either the Internet or from the intranet
This must allow anonymous access to the site using a web server certificate
Create a security group that will have external users who can access the extranet but do not have privileges to hack said other resources on the network
The following conditions must be met:
Create a web site and the web site will be a SharePoint Portal web site
Setup user accounts for external users
Create a security group
Create a new template for external user accounts
Create a user account that is based on the new template
Set permissions for the new user account
Ensure that the external users can access only the windows SharePoint web site
Delete shared folders for external use your accounts
Enable users to access the extranet:
Enable anonymous users to access the site
Enable authenticated users to upload and edit or delete documents on the site
Assign all authenticated users to the contributors site group
Enable e-mail services on the server:
Configure the site to be accessible from the intranet:
Create a CNAME resource record
Define a host header name

Sorry about the long description. Essentially this project is simply reconnecting the Sharepoint Portal website with the NO -I service. I have NO-FP client running on the server. It would be nice to connect the original Sharepoint services site also but this is not absolutely necessary.Ultimately if I have a working Sharepoint Portal into accessible from the internet which is secure I will he happy. Thanks!
