Hotel Online Reservation System.
(ASP & Access/SQL Server 2000)
The system described below does not use a number of specific rooms (eg. Hotel has: 2 x double rooms, 5 x triples, etc). It merely needs a number_of_available_rooms. However there are people who would be interested in both types of implementation (room_specific and non_room_speficic). If the site admin could choose between the "setups" that would be even better. (The description below was written based on the non_room_specific version to simply demonstrate he functionality required in general).
General Issues:
All booking engine code, database, etc must reside on the website and not on another system. Application must be made to work on he Windows platform (IIS 5.0) and should be written in ASP + MsAccess (preferred, as number of concurrent users is estimated to be less than 9) or ASP + SQL Server.
The website's and databases' structure must support multiple languages
Website will have the following main sections:
Home/About Us
Services/Facilities (pictures and list of services and facilities)
Online Reservations and Availability (this is where the online reservation system comes in. There will be a variable number of the rooms of the hotel made available on the online system. Room type (2 bed, 3 bed, etc) is not important. Only number of rooms available for booking online is important.)
Pricelist (prices during specific time periods, set by the site admin. Such time periods will be variable and might be changing. Pricelist table should cater for the existance of seasonal and last minute offers, etc)
Special Offers (the system should provide site visitors with different prices depending on valid offers during a certain period)
Contact Us (just a contact form)
Cancel your booking (contact form where visitor enters his ReservationIDNo, details are validated for existance and then email is automatically sent to website admin about cancellation of booking.
Group Bookings (just a contact form)
Tour Operators (also just a contact form)
Comments on the Functionality of the website admin
Site Admin should be able to:
Change the text shown in the Special Offers section of the website
Redefine time periods and the pricing for them, for all types of rooms
eg. One of our periods is 15/06 - 15/07 but we want to make a special offer for 01/07 - 10/07 for double rooms for example
Change the number of Rooms Available to the Online System
Change the Type of the rooms available
