First and foremost, we are NOT looking for people who are apart of an existing company. If you are already a member of a development team, and your whole team agrees to join the project, we are open to talks. So, lets go onto the details.
First, I am not sure this is the right place to post things like this, but with really no other clear options, I was unsure of where else we could do this. So, what is the goal? Myself and a friend are looking to build a team for developing a game. The game is being built in the unreal engine and we are using C# programming.
We are looking to work with a total of 2 additional people. All we need is someone familiar with using the Unreal Engine through Blender and a C# Coder. We are not looking for a jack of all trades. If you capable of doing both then that is great however we still prefer your primary focus be on only one of the two tasks.
On the topic of budgeting, this is where we are all taking a risk. It is my intention to set up a Kickstarter Project to fund the development. And before freelancer gets the wrong idea, YES I WILL pay out these two freelancers through Kickstarter. That out of the way, this simply means that our success or failure o the project will determine our profit. If we do our jobs well, deliver on what we promise, and commit to the success of this development, we all get paid and can go home happy. If not, then we don't. And this applies to all of us. Including myself and my friend. I am personally going to spend hours for days watching C# codeing videos to learn what I need to play my part. Aside from that, I will also be doing a majority of the story development, dialogue and writing aspects required. If and when we reach a point that we are ready to apply sound effects, music, voices and what not, then we will expand the team to adapt to our needs. So, that said, if you want in on the project but don't meet current requirements, keep an eye on my postings here on freelancer as it is likely we will reach out to feel spots for additional needs.
So, the last question in your head may be this. What is the game we are developing?
Our goals is to create a singleplayer living world RPG. After creating a new world and creating your character, the player is spawned into a mostly wild country with up to 4 small colonies. Groups of 10 or so people who have established the beginnings of a village that will grow and expand with time. You can either aid in these efforts to some day become the manager/leader of this town or live your life as a member of the community. Weather that be as a farmer, merchant, business owner, or underground crime boss, that options will be yours.
We want to deliver to the player an open world RPG with no primary story line you are required to follow. Your path is your choice. Your success is defendant in what you do and how you choose to do it. Now, before its asked, yes there will have to be some limitations. As NPC's can not act, speak and comprehend what you say on their own like a real human being, The player will have to work with a choice system that is similar to games like Skyrim, Star Wars the Old Republic or Fallout. Only, more expansive and with a greater number of options.
This is the intended goal. There are hopes and ideas to some day take this up further to an MMO, but for now we are resting as a Single Player game. If you are chosen and choose to be a member of the team, a document with a full outline of the games intended functions/features will be provided to you. This document is constantly updating. I review it daily myself, tweaking bits and pieces as myself and my friend work out ideas. As members of the team, you will able to do the same. Your input is going to be as equally valuable to the rest of the group. We succeed or fail together.
So, if you are interested, please message me so we may talk. Please do not ask for more details about the game until after you are hired/chosen.
