To prepare for the release of indie novels we need marketing research. We are looking for information about book reviewers and book contests appropriate for fiction novels.
Part 1 -- Reviewers. Identify a list of 30 fiction novel reviewers that would be appropriate for a literary young adult book. If additional reviewers are found that are not appropriate for the fiction novel, list those as well. Only the 30 appropriate (including the 8 listed) will count.
Information desired in a table or spreadsheet, with notes.
Company name (newspaper)
Book reviewer name (if available)
Country (USA and Canada only. If others are found from other countries, list the name/company and country for future use.)
Web-site for review organization
Genres reviewed (literary fiction and YA fiction are the best for this project, but other fiction genres can be identified. Independent reviewers tend to be more focused. Large companies will usually review all genres, or have a small number of exceptions.)
Required Format of book reviewed (ebook or printed or both or other)
Expectation the book will be reviewed (do they review every book sent or choose what they want?)
Timeframe (how long does it take from the moment they get the book until the review is completed?)
Pre-publication only (or do they review books post-publication?)
Review distribution (blog, third party, newspaper, etc. -- if available.)
Review site traffic (If reviewer has a site, how much legitimate web traffic do they get. This is helpful, but not critical)
Fee for review -- if any. (Preference is for no fee reviewers, but fee reviewers should be included.)
Usage of review (Can I automatically use it in marketing communication or on the novel cover or is there a fee for this?)
The list will include a minimum of 10 newspapers and/or periodicals. and a minimum of 10 other high quality, respected reviewers (magazines or well-regarded reviewers that I can reasonably expect to review my novel (Literary fiction / Young adult -- non-religious)
The required reviewers have been listed in the spreadsheet.
New York Review of Books
New York Times
Chicago Sun Times

Exclusions: BlueInk Review, Kirkus Reviews, Foreword Reviews, Publishers Weekly and Booklife. (I already have these). Netgalley and other sources for individual reviews are also excluded.

Identify 12 legitimate fiction novel contests. Five required are listed in the spreadsheet.

The Alliance of Independent Authors has a list that rates some based on their criteria. This can serve as a reference.
The completed spreadsheets must be in Excel format.
