Can you kindly explain point no 3) where you need a second CSV file ? The only difference I see between point no 2) and 3) is of adding file names to row and columns. Hello I am an Excel VBA developer. I can quickly and easily set up a VBA macro that loads and joins all the input files into a single-sheet. You are correct that VBA is the quickest and simplest route to achieve this. If the output file is also going to be a CSV file, it may be better to use an external program that runs on the command-line and is written in bash (if Linux) or C (Windows or Linux) to easily achieve that same result without having to use Excel at all. Hi, I have completed a number of pieces of work similar to this and believe I would be able to deliver a robust, high-quality solution to you quickly. I already have some code that could be very easily customised to cater to your requirements. My proposal would be to use Excel VBA (since we are working with CSV files, this is the most logical choice). The trick is to point the program at the folder and then cycle through each file, opening and copying the contents to the destination file. The target directory can be entered in a cell with a button next to it to launch the program, allowing you the flexibility to change the directory easily if you wish. The file name parsing is also not a problem, as part of the technique in cycling through files in a directory is retrieving the file name, which can then be parsed to get the sub-string up to the first underscore. Part of my Freelancer ethos is to ensure my clients are 100% happy with my work before moving on. I will NOT dump something into your lap and walk away. I will submit a draft version for your review, take any feedback you may have and iterate the versions until you are completely happy with the finished product. Hi, I see 2 options for creating this solution 1) Create an Excel file using VBA to perform the merge 2) Create a VBScript to perform the merge Whichever method you use you would need to copy the file in to the directory first before running it, so I would recommend a VBScript as the solution for 2 reasons. 1) If you have multiple directories it is easier to launch from a batch file or using the for command 2) If you are copying the file in to the directory to just double-click it, the icon will stand out more than an excel icon will over a CSV file (which will also have a different Excel Icon) If you select me, I can produce either method for you as you choose will be best Regards Paul
