Javascript Developer with experience in sharepoint

This is what I am looking for: At my small Chicago business we use Sharepoint Online. We regularly have to fill out government-supplied PDF forms. Our problem is that such forms can’t be opened natively from Sharepoint Online. We can only download copies of these forms from Sharepoint, and any changes we make aren’t saved back into Sharepoint. If we had Sharepoint on premises, we could solve this with a back end tweak, but unfortunately this tweak doesn’t work for the hosted product. So we have had to come up with a couple of clunky workarounds, none of which are satisfactory. If you do a Google search for “edit document from sharepoint online” you will get more information about this problem. In searching online for solutions, I see that others have posted that they can use a client-side Javascript program to override the native Sharepoint settings. The Javascript apparently uses a command to feed a Sharepint link to a PDF editor and this is supposed to work. We use Windows 10 and mostly Edge, Firefox, and Explorer, and currently we use Adobe Acrobat. I’m looking for a plugin that would work for all of these browsers and that would work with other PDF editors. I need the plugin mostly but not only for pdf forms. I want to be able to open any pdf for editing from the browser view of a Sharepoint or onedrive library.
