I hired a travel agent that booked a seriously substandard room and no air conditioning in Hawaii. When I called the hotel to confirm our reservation prior to0 arrival, even the hotel manager was upset that my agent did not disclose this information. I canceled the hotel and immediately booked lodging elsewhere myself because it was just a few days before our departure and it would have been after hours for the agent. The hotel manager sent me emails and copies of emails that she issued a full refund and supported the cancellation. The travel agent said we would be receiving the refund in writing. We continue to receive the run around about the refund seven weeks later. Our vacation was impacted because we had an additional $1200 on our credit card in addition to the last-minute booking of the different room. Before we ever booked with the agent, we were very clear it was our first vacation in 13 years together, as we were caring for dying relatives. Additionally, they knew it was our honeymoon that was delayed since April 2020 due to covid shut down and that we lost a lot of money on our canceled wedding. Lastly, they also knew I am a cancer survivor and for all of these reasons, it is clear we would not want a substandard room with no ocean view or air conditioning for part of our honeymoon in 80-95 degree heat. I recently contacted the hotel manager again and she wholeheartedly supported the full refund and is incredulous what the hold up could be since we canceled before our arrival. I would like a letter sent to the company that is holding onto our money seven weeks later.
