I'm a certified math teacher with a background in math and science. I really enjoyed working on this project with you and hope you did too. One year, I was asked to teach a section of 8th-grade social studies. A colleague gave me a list of "assignments" to make reading the textbook more engaging. All of the assignments were variations of a classic middle school science "project": read the textbook chapter on cell biology, build a model of the cell, and then reorganize and paraphrase the information from the textbook and throw it on a poster. Basically, each assignment was designed to make reading the textbook more palatable while ensuring that neither the teacher nor the students would have to go beyond the textbook. My job was to decide which assignment to use with which chapter. Should I use assignment G for chapter 3 or assignment D for chapter 7? I'm sad to say, the students in my social studies class that year didn't learn very much of substances. I wish I could have done better, but I was in my second-year and pretty overwhelmed.
