CSV to MS SQL Script for import

Hello My proposal is this I will make a script to import the csv file into a stage table in the DB. After the success import I will make all the necessary updates. Final after the correct completion of the above tasks I will commit the transactions or I will rollback them At the end I will move the csv file to a backup folder and rename it , just to have it for backup. I will schedule the job to be executed at a specific time and if you have an email account we can set up sql server to send an email at the end of the job. Hello, Hope you are doing good. I have read your requirements and I have done similar work many times. Also you can see my last project was same automated process. I think instead of do at only on SQL server import it will be better to create windows service which will run continuously on database system and it will check on predefine time interval and it will import into database and then move it to it separate folder. If we create windows service then we can add log like no of duplicate records or if any record has error then we can add log and after correcting it you can re important again. I can make windows service which will get csv file from configured source folder and import into database and after importing it will move to separate folder. And also service time will be configurable so you can change as per your requirements without changing code. Also while importing I can check duplicate records, etc. I can write this service in C# or VB.NET. Please let me know your preferred language and you would like to implement with windows service. My responsibilities include 3rd Level Support for SQL Server, SharePoint and IIS, for more than 150 projects. - I will create a Powershell script that does the mapping. The script will include also importing to the SQL Server table, without need for a separate script using bcp. - The script will include logging, in order to be able to monitor the data import execution. - I will create a Windows scheduled task - Care needs to be taken in the case of duplicate entries, data types and other constraints that might prevent some rows to be inserted. The project can be build in Sql server and also I can create package which can be scheduled in Sql server. I have worked on project similar to this where I have created SSIS package to load CSV file data into Sql server database. And then scheduled the same for particular timings.

Experience Around 3 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Plan We can have a simple stored procedure to run daily which will automatically process the CSV file and move and update the required table.

Hi, Mapping heading of CSV to SQL table is not much tough. On the other hand if you want to run automatically, then you can create a service program with a scheduler which does this for you. I can make a scheduler service program for you. Which platform and SQL are you using ? Best Regards

I already programmed an script very similar to this one, I should do only minors changes to cover all the current project specifications, the script will be written in pure SQL and it will be launched automatically at an specified time using the SQL Agent.

Hi! Creating MS SQL script is a usual task. I will provide you with the solution you need. I have some questions about this task: 1. Is there any description of field name matches from CSV and your table (f.e.: field 'ID' in CSV matches 'ItemID' in your table)? 2. Will this CSV be put in some default folder available for MS SQL Server service? Only in this case autostart of this script is possible.
