Configration for SQL, Processing Management

Seeking short term "SQL GURU" contractor to help create a highly efficient operational system and remain on call as needed after project is complete. Our environment consists of multiple servers running MSSQL Server and MySQL. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned database administrator who loves to problem solve, teach, automate, and optimize performance for big data applications. Must have very strong SQL administration skills related to implementing, configuring, and managing large database systems including health/scalability checks, performance tuning, infrastructure builds, and operational monitoring, performance optimization, and data migrations. Additionally, you will assist with development and implementation of automated processes for loading, analyzing, transforming, and extracting data from/to internal and external sources for live feeds, parsing to databases, ETLs, SSIS, implementation of APIs, data archival, metadata library, and data backup strategies. We will also look to you for training existing staff in specific areas as needed in many of these areas. On-call tasks will include occasional database performance tuning and upgrades, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all database patches and service packs. REQUIRED: ========== • SQL DBA with 10+ years of Experience in both Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL Administration and Maintenance for local and remote Unix and Windows platforms • Experience with SQL Server upgrade and migration from version 2012 to SQL Server 2014 Including Memory Optimized Databases • Proven expertise in evaluation of SQL Server environment, best practices and standards for installation, configuration, storage, CPU, and Memory • Demonstrated ability to standardize SQL Server environments including SQL Server Performance, Tuning and Troubleshooting • Excellent communication skills with willingness to lead projects, work with team, work independently, document policies and procedures, and train staff • Ability to analyze database performance, Server performance, DB monitoring and capacity management and optimize large SQL databases • Ability to recommend, implement,and assess batch Processes, ETL, SSIS, stored procedures and additional automation • Experience in development of High performance queries including hash queries,Indexes, stored procedures, views, functions and triggers using T-SQL scripts • Proven, advanced skills and experience with efficient management, high capacity processing, critical delivery schedules for very large SQL databases • Ability to troubleshoot database and application performance issues, conduct root cause analysis of failed systems and implement strategic resolutions • Experience training staff to monitor SQL Server memory utilization, resolve Blocking, Locking, Deadlock, CPU bottleneck, IO issues, and connection timeouts • Demonstrated expertise in schema implementation, performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, backup/recovery and database administration DESIRED: ========== - MCSE: Data Platform - SQL Server 2012 (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) Preferred) - Troubleshooting Load balancing functionality and other networking areas - Responsible for database design, creation, installation and maintenance of SQL server 2014 including Memory Optimized Databases and queries - Experience with additional RDBMS. - Extensive experience in database and query tuning. - Experience with MS SQL Server DTS with a minimum of 4 terabytes environment. - In-depth knowledge of physical data design, relational database technology, stored procedures, and clustering technologies - Experience writing code / scripts to build API's; PHP preferred - other languages considered. - Strong Windows and Linux operating system skill including Perl / Regular Expressions - Knowledge of EMC VNX, VMWare technologies and Amazon/Akamai Cloud platform. - Strong knowledge on T-SQL and PL/SQL.
