Descripción de empleo<br /><br />The Server Technology Core Database Documentation team writes documentation for Oracle Database and its related products. This department also ancillary deliverables related to Information Development, such as online help and related Oracle collateral. The group is closely aligned with Oracle Database Development and Oracle Database Product Management.<br /><br />We seek a senior technical editor who has experience with structured authoring, topic-based writing, DITA, and preferably, experience with content management systems (CMS).  <br />Primary Duties<br /><br /><br />In this role, you will:<br /><br />• Work within a DITA-based CMS, where content re-use and consistency are key goals<br />• Edit topics for organization, consistency, minimalism, and style; the topics are at various levels of development<br />• Operate as technical editor in a role that is pre-defined and integrated into a CMS workflow <br />• Control topic progression through our customized CMS workflow<br />• Enforce documentation review process rules among SMEs<br />• Assist with the design and architecture of customer documentation<br />• Ensure that output is correct and meets user requirements<br />• Work closely with writers to apply topic- and task-based, minimalist writing principles, and help enforce content re-use<br />• Educate writers and SMEs in our processes and become an agent of change--DITA and the CMS are new to the organization<br />• Eventually, lead other editors as our editing staff increases<br /><br />Description of Content<br /><br />The content that you will edit ranges from conceptual, to very detailed technical tasks with complex code examples. The audience ranges from beginner, to highly experienced database administrators in over 140 countries; a majority of your customers are ESL readers.<br /><br />Success Factors<br /><br />To succeed, you must become expert in and contribute to the improvement of the following: <br />• Internal style guides and word lists <br />• Use of the CMS and related project management tools<br />• DITA-based authoring processes<br />• DITA and XML definitions and usage guidelines<br />Primary Requirements<br />• 10+ years' editing experience in an online, web, or print environment<br />• Demonstrated experience with DITA 1.1; experience with DITA 1.2 is a plus<br />• Demonstrated ability to work with DITA and structured content; experience with a CMS is  a strong plus<br />• Understanding of current XML authoring and publishing technologies  <br />• Strong understanding of writing in structured authoring environments with a focus on tags and style that is applied by tags<br />• Demonstrated grasp of grammar, and a keen ability to adhere to style guidelines, structured authoring rules, and writing for ESL readers<br />• Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills<br />• Ability to work effectively with teams with diverse needs<br />• Ability to manage multiple deadlines for multiple library and on-demand deliverables<br />• Collaborative work style to enable seamless interaction with very experienced writers and other editors, as well as information architects, technical SMEs, and management; co-workers are worldwide, working in multiple time zones <br />• Ability to handle change<br />• Ability to work under tight, changing deadlines to meet milestones with limited supervision<br />• Ability to convert legacy documentation into XML-based documentation<br />Preferred Background<br />• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, English Literature, Journalism or related field<br />• Structured content experience, HTML, XML, or expertise working with content wrapped in tags <br />• Experience using XML-based editors and DITA<br /><br />Additional Skills<br /><br />• Oracle Database hardware and software products<br />• SDL CMS<br />• Arbortext<br />• DITA version 1.1, 1.2<br />• Software and hardware documentation writing experience
