change out alternator in car

I need someone with experience with simple car mechanics. I need the alternator changed out of a 2008 Equinox. I have the new alternator and all tools. I also have started to remove the old one, but am having trouble with the serpentine belt. I have the wrench for that as well, just not sure what I am doing.
