Professional-looking portrait photograph

I want a professional-looking photograph for my CV, online resumes, business cards, etc. My main line of work is (maths) tutoring and research, so I want a photo with a shirt on and a plain background, and maybe a few different arrangements, like a blazer as well, or a t-shirt / golf shirt. I am open to having different backgrounds as well to see if a professional, but relaxed, atmosphere in the photo is desirable or not.

I sometimes work on sailing boats so I am slightly interested in seeing if I can get a profile with yacht rigging behind me and with a light-coloured golf shirt on, but if it is too much expense to travel to the harbour then so be it.
