javascript - wysiwig text editor and markup validator

Hi,

I'm creating a custom PHP content management tool and am looking for the following cross-browser/cross-os javascript tools:

1) a good (ideally, but not necessarily, wysiwyg) javascript markup tool for textareas - that will also accept custom markup tags and/or have a text mode for allowing users to just paste in html - it must be wysiwyg or allow preview of browser view of text

2) an html validation tool/function which will make sure all tags are closed properly and the html is well formed.

My client uses Mac-os only and I use Windows and sometimes Linux so it should be cross platform and cross-browser compatible.

I really like the tool that RAC uses for comments (textareas) and if it works with mac browsers (IE with office) it might work... but I realize it needs Windows os and IE 5.5 or later version. I also need the validator and ability to put in custom markup.

I'm interested in your suggestions (and demonstrations?) of a good solution that is as cross browser compatible as possible. I'm even open to having a toolbar that marks up textarea text and shows 'preview' in popup window after validation of html formatting.... It would be nice to be able to add customized, easily configurable <span> and <div> markup tags to text as well so CSS styling can be used for marking up elements.

Unfortunately this is a rush job! I need to get something that's clean, well functioning, and very easy to use (e.g on pages with multiple textareas that need validation) and I need it quickly (within 24 hours ideally!).

Thank you for considering my request for bids!

Best Regards,

John
